Note: Owen Bowen was a British painter, known mostly for his Impressionist still lifes and landscapes depicting theYorkshire countryside. Born in 1873 in Leeds, Bowen was educated during evenings in his adolescence at Leeds School of Art. In the early 20th century, Bowen travelled to Holland, where he painted maritime landscapes and windmill scenes. He went on to form the Leeds School of Art, now known as the Owen Bowen School of Art.
